A little bit about me and how I ended up here in the paradisiacal Mexican Caribbean….
I have now been living in Playa del Carmen, Mexico for 15 years. I was born in Mexico City to a Mexican mum and Irish dad and when I was only 18 months old they decided to start a new life in London, England where I was raised. Life in London was fantastic and I loved city life and all the fine trappings that having a thriving career in sales brought with it but I always had a bit of wanderlust and had travelled to about 30 different countries before I reached the age of 30.
Because of my Mexican family and also because it is such a vast and beautiful country, Mexico was always my number one choice for my holidays because there was always something new and beautiful to discover. I lived in Cancun more than 30 years ago when I first finished university and that was when I first visited Playa del Carmen which was then just a quaint little fishing village and Tulum was nothing but virgin beaches and palm trees, and totally fell in love. I moved back to London after a year to begin my career but I came back nearly every year and I have watched the area grow into the thriving community it is today. I made my first investment here 20 years ago and have grown my own portfolio over the years.
Fifteen years ago I finally took the plunge and said goodbye to my career in London, sold my house, packed up my things and moved here to start a new life with my two young boys, who were then only 3 and 5. Some thought I was crazy but now they can see what a fantastic decision it was. We have an amazing life here in paradise and have never looked back! My boys are now 18 and 20, and had the most happy childhood here. They are totally bilingual and went to an international school where they made lifelong friends from all over the world. Their passion since they were tiny has always been soccer they were both lucky enough to play soccer in the National Soccer league. Now they have flown the nest and gone to university in Europe but always come back to paradise at every opportunity!
We have had a life as a family that we would never have had in London, mainly because of the sunshine and amazing weather and being fortunate enough to have a life that allows us to do so much together. Walking on the beach, swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, all simple pleasures but part of what makes life here amazing! Working as a realtor is a perfect fit for me. I love to deal with people and what better job than showing them how they can share in my passion for Mexico and in this little slice of paradise we call home.
